Business Migration

The Western Australian Government welcomes business migrants – recognised and valued for their contribution to the State’s economy, employment and cultural diversity. image of Map of Perth in relation to Asia

With its Mediterranean style climate, diverse communities and high standard of living, Perth is one of the world’s most liveable cities. Western Australia has a dynamic business environment with a strong history of international trade and investment, many resource and agricultural assets and is home to a third of all ASX (Australian Securities Exchange) listed companies. There is no better time  for migrants to make the move and take advantage of the range of business opportunities available in Western Australia.

Located in the same time zone as around sixty per cent of the world’s population, Perth is a globally connected city in which to live and operate a business. It is particularly well-positioned as a gateway to the Asia-Pacific region, with daily flights to many locations including Indonesia, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and China.

Migrants can choose to live in beachside suburbs, family neighbourhoods or peaceful regional towns. Wherever they settle, they will find social and support networks within communities from many different backgrounds and religions.

If you have a successful background in owning or managing a business or investments, and you would like to engage in business or investment activity in Western Australia, you may qualify for the Business Migration Program.

The majority of business people will first enter Western Australia on a four year Provisional Business Visa. After successfully managing a business or investment here, you may be eligible to apply for a Permanent Business Visa.

To help assess your eligibility for a Business Visa, please read the criteria on this website.

Prospective business migrants are encouraged to go to the SkillSelect website and conduct a self-assessment against the visa categories. Department of Home Affairs is responsible for the assessment and issue of all Australian visas.

For more detailed information regarding the various Federal migration programs, you may also wish to visit the Department of Home Affairs.
